At APV, we Always Provide Value POSITION SUMMARY The Graphic Artist will design, develop, update, and quality-review visual assets for training modernization. Working with instructional designers, technical writers, eLearning and multimedia specialists, subject matter experts, instructors, and accessibility personnel, this role will translate complex scientific, regulatory, and technical content into clear, accurate, engaging visuals. The Graphic Artist will support modernization of existing courses and development of new courses by producing consistent, accessible, publication-ready graphics for instructor-led, virtual, hybrid, and digital learning materials that comply with client requirements, applicable Regulatory Training System standards, and project document-control practices. DUTIES Design and revise diagrams, process illustrations, infographics, icons, charts, tables, presentation graphics, job-aid visuals, image treatments, and other visual assets for training courses.Collaborate with instructional designers, technical writers, and subject matter experts to convert complex concepts, workflows, equipment, methods, and data into accurate, learner-centered visual explanations.Develop coordinated visual treatments for instructor guides, student guides and manuals, presentations, job aids, handouts, practice exercises, assessments, evaluation instruments, eLearning, and other course materials.Apply client Visual Identity requirements, approved templates, typography, color, layout, image-use, and branding conventions consistently across each complete course materials package.Create visuals that support learning objectives and job performance without introducing scientific inaccuracies, ambiguity, unnecessary decoration, or content that conflicts with approved source materials.Participate in design reviews and courseware reviews with stakeholders and internal team members; present visual concepts, document decisions, incorporate approved feedback, and resolve inconsistencies across related materials.Coordinate with Section 508 specialists to produce accessible graphics and layouts, including sufficient color contrast, readable typography, logical visual structure, non-color-dependent meaning, and supporting text alternatives or descriptions.Prepare and optimize graphics for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PDF, eLearning, LMS, virtual delivery, projection, and approved print use while preserving clarity, legibility, and appropriate file size.Update legacy visual assets and templates to improve accuracy, readability, accessibility, visual consistency, and suitability for classroom, virtual, hybrid, or self-paced delivery.Create or edit eLearning interface graphics, illustrated content, scenario assets, image-based interactions, and other visual elements in coordination with eLearning and multimedia developers.Conduct visual quality-control reviews before submission, checking image resolution, placement, cropping, alignment, labels, legends, color use, consistency, accessibility, and fidelity across source and published formats.Maintain organized, editable source files and disciplined file naming, version control, change records, links, and asset libraries so Government-owned materials remain reusable, reproducible, and easy to maintain.Use properly licensed, Government-furnished, original, or otherwise authorized visual assets; document sources as required and ensure final materials are free of copyright restrictions that would limit Government and partner use.Prepare visual deliverables for paperless-first electronic distribution through client-approved Microsoft Office, PDF, SharePoint, shared-drive, or LMS workflows; do not create macro-enabled files.Protect client information and Government-furnished materials by using only approved tools and platforms and complying with project security, privacy, records-management, and information-handling requirements.Manage graphics for multiple concurrent course workstreams, meet accelerated production and review schedules, and adapt to client-directed changes in priorities, course sequencing, delivery format, or content.Perform other duties within the scope of the position and contract requirements. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, digital media, illustration, or a closely related field is required; equivalent directly relevant professional experience may be considered. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least two years of professional experience designing and producing graphics for digital, presentation, publication, training, or performance-support materials.Demonstrated proficiency with current graphics creation and editing software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign or comparable professional applications.Advanced proficiency creating and formatting visual content in Microsoft PowerPoint and working with graphics embedded in Microsoft Word and PDF deliverables.Strong foundation in layout, typography, color, composition, information hierarchy, image editing, vector illustration, and production-quality file preparation.Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical source material and work with subject matter experts to create visuals that are accurate, clear, and appropriate for professional adult learners.Familiarity with instructional design and development processes and with the role of graphics in courseware, job aids, assessments, presentations, and eLearning.Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements and accessible visual-design practices for electronic documents and digital learning products.Strong communication, collaboration, organization, file-management, and quality-control skills, with close attention to detail and consistency.Ability to work independently in a primarily remote, multidisciplinary federal delivery environment while managing multiple assignments, deadlines, reviews, and changing priorities.Ability to obtain and maintain the security and system access approvals required for a Tier 2 Sensitive Moderate Risk position, including completion of required security, privacy, records-management, and role-based training.Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience supporting federal agencies, particularly in a public health, regulatory, or similarly complex environment.Experience developing visuals for scientific training, technical procedures, regulated content, or competency-based curricula.Experience applying federal visual identity standards, accessible color and layout practices, and structured document templates across a large portfolio of related materials.Experience creating graphics for Articulate Storyline or Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or comparable digital-learning and multimedia tools.Experience with data visualization, scientific illustration, photography, photo retouching, animation, or motion graphics relevant to technical learning products.Professional certification or advanced training in graphic design, visual communication, accessibility, scientific illustration, or a related discipline.
