NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Graphic Design or related field OR AA/HS Degree in Graphic Design, visual communications, visual arts or related field with minimum additional experience of 7 year(s) in Graphic design in the context of interpretation for parks, project management OR Previously completed training in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Knowledge of a variety of methods, standards, techniques, and materials used in the design, production, and reproduction of visual products to plan the technical details of, or produce, aesthetically composed visual products in a timely manner. Knowledge of NPS and interagency policies, guidelines, and standards related to websites and on-line applications, audio-visual productions, publications and signage, including the NPS Graphic Identify Program, and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Adobe Creative Cloud/InDesign/PhotoShop/Illustrator
Duties:

Graphic design to support interpretation at Rosie the Riveter WWII Homefront NHP, John Muir NHP, Port Chicago Naval Magazine NM, and Eugene O?Neill NHP.

  • Produces and installs interior and exterior orientation, printed signage, information and interpretive fabric banners and kiosk education media and other visitor information products. Provides visual production services to park divisions using nationally established guidelines and industry standards, e.g. development of two outdoor interpretive panels for Eugene O?Neill NHP which address the history of the site and its historic context   50%
  • Plans the visual aspects of printed materials such as pamphlets, posters, handouts, activity schedules, and other similar materials, e.g. creation of flyers in support of interpretive programs which are engaging and may be used for promotion of programs throughout the 4 parks   40%
  • Carrying out the visual information aspects of public awareness and community engagement programs, e.g. development of logos and posters to publicize special events, some of which are put on in collaboration with park partners   10%

  • Physical requirements: Work is normally performed in a typical office setting, however, when work is performed outside the office, it may be in field environments or at dirty, dusty, cold, hot, wet or some otherwise uncomfortable locations indoors and outdoors, where the kiosk or signage is located.
