Internship Overview

The Graphic Design Intern will support the Advancement & Communications Department, working closely with the marketing and creative team to develop visually compelling assets that strengthen New York Edge's brand and storytelling. This internship is ideal for a student interested in visual communication, brand identity, and nonprofit marketing. The intern will gain hands-on experience in creative production, brand management and marketing design while contributing meaningfully to New York Edge's mission to bridge the opportunity gap among students in underinvested communities.

Internship Details

  • Location: Woodside, Queens (Hybrid)
  • Duration: Summer 2026 (8-10 weeks, flexible)
  • Hours: 20-25 hours/week
  • Compensation: $20/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Visual Identity & Branding: • Assist in maintaining a cohesive visual identity across digital and print platforms, ensuring consistent logo usage and brand standards.
  • Design Production: • Create engaging 2D design assets using strong layout, color, and typography fundamentals; support light 3D or dimensional design projects as needed.
  • Digital Media: • Design graphics, illustrations, and digital assets for social media, website, and email campaigns.
  • Print & Layout Design: • Develop professional layouts for brochures, flyers, annual reports, and other marketing materials, preparing files for print production.
  • Merchandise & Promotional Materials: • Assist with the design of branded merchandise, packaging, and promotional materials for events and fundraising campaigns.
  • Marketing & Campaign Support: • Conceptualize and produce marketing materials including posters, signage, educational materials, advertisements, and campaign collateral as needed.
  • Other projects as needed.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student Prior design experience through coursework, internships, freelance work, or personal projects; portfolio or sample work preferred Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; Canva experience a plus) Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Interest in nonprofit communications, marketing, or social impact design
