Role Scope

Design a secure, interoperable 3D data model for underground infrastructure and natural-environment observations.

The RFI concerns a secure 3D data-sharing platform for built and natural underground assets, including water and sewer pipes, gas lines, electrical conduits, fiber-optic cables, and soil composition. Responses must address feasible sensing, data-integration, accuracy, security, and operating approaches without presenting the notice as an awarded implementation contract.

The Opportunity

FuntoNetwork is seeking a Subsurface Geospatial Data Architect for upcoming project opportunity: New York City Office of Technology and Innovation.

Core Responsibilities

• Define 3D spatial schemas, coordinate reference practices, metadata, provenance, uncertainty, lineage, and versioning for subsurface assets.
• Map exchange patterns for City agencies and utilities while preserving ownership, permissions, confidentiality, and data-quality controls.
• Describe how heterogeneous survey and utility records can be reconciled into a governed, queryable 3D platform.
