Performsentry-levelworkincludingmanualandtechnicallaborfortheconstruction,operation,andmaintenanceof greens, tee boxes, fairways,cart paths,infrastructureat theGolf Course, detentionponds, and irrigation, signage and drainagesystems.Generally, thispositionusesroutineskillsandworks under moderate supervision,withminimal latitude for theuse ofinitiativeandindependent judgment.

Essential Duties & Required Qualifications

  • Operateheavymowingequipmentsuch asfairwayroughmowersand tractors.

  • Operate a variety ofmowing equipment such as agreens mower,teesmower,push mower, edger, weedeater, blower, irrigationapplicator,maintenancevehicle,and othermiscellaneousequipmentused in the upkeepof the golf course.

  • Implementand maintain any and allpolicies andprocedures asdirected by Superintendent,Assistant Superintendent, andGeneral Manager.

  • Performequipmentcleaningandpreventativemaintenanceonmowersandassorted equipment.

  • Pickupdebris,trash,limbs,rock,andanyotherdebristopreservecourseconditionsand appearance.

  • Ascertainproperprotocolandtechniquesformowing,trimmingandothermaintenanceprocedures. Continuouslyobtain furthereducation for these protocolsfrom the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

  • Fill outpertinentforms as required by the departmentona timely basis.These forms may be necessary for workflowprocesses,preventativemaintenance,or perhaps capturing informationaldata.Examplesof forms mayinclude equipment logs, fuelusage,preventative maintenance schedules, andMSDSmanuals.Mustadhere to the departmental recordkeeping policy.

  • Maintainaclean,safe,andorganizedworking environment.

  • Assistinirrigation repairs,specialprojects,andotherrepairsonthe course.

  • Fertilize andapplychemicals toappropriate landscape andarea(s) under thesupervision ofthelicensed applicator.

  • Maintainaprofessionalimageatall times.

  • Performothermiscellaneousmaintenancedutiestothegolfcourseas assigned.

  • Responsibleforreturningequipmenttoitsdesignated location.

  • Otherrelateddutiesas assigned.

  • RequiredEducationand Experience

  • HighSchooldegreeor equivalent.

  • Aminimum ofthreemonthsofexperience in landscape maintenance.

  • Abilitytooccasionallywork hoursotherthantheregulardaytimeschedulesuchasweekendsand evenings.

  • RequiredCertificateandlicenses

  • ValiddriverslicensefromTexas or any other US state (Approximately10%drivingtimeinaCity vehicle.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be knowledgeable of turfgrass maintenance andable tooperate heavy/light mowing equipment, repair irrigation systems, and have basic troubleshootingskills on mowing equipment failures.
  • Ability to speak, read,andwriteinEnglish.
  • Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelybothverballyandin writing.
  • Abilitytofollowdetailedverbalandwritten instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such assafety rules, operating andmaintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Abilitytocommunicatewithotheremployeesandthe generalpublicinacourteousanddiplomatic manner.
  • Skill inhandlingmultipletasksand prioritizing.
  • Abilitytoworkhoursotherthantheregulardaytimeschedulesuchon-call,oremergencyresponse situations.
  • When requested, must beable to wear personal protective equipment, steel-toed leather or composite-toed boots,gloves, eye protection, head protection, safety vest, and ear protection.

Physical Demands & Additional Information

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs. with regularity.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (moderate, loud, very loud).
