Job Summary
The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing and serving short-order meals while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced hospital cafeteria environment.

This role ensures high-quality food preparation, presentation, and service while maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.

This position does not provide direct patient care.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook short-order items for grill and deli stations
  • Serve customers efficiently while providing friendly, high-quality service
  • Set up, stock, and replenish grill and cafeteria areas (beverages, hot food, grab-and-go, etc.)
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of cafeteria, servery, equipment, and workspaces
  • Follow HACCP and regulatory food safety standards
  • Assist with catering order preparation as needed
  • Clean and restock stations after each meal period
  • Monitor inventory and report shortages or issues to leadership
  • Support department goals to improve retail satisfaction and efficiency
  • Handle high customer volume during peak service times
  • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting department needs

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (experience may substitute)
  • Prior grill cook or food handling experience preferred
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic knife skills and experience using kitchen equipment (grill, fryer, slicer, steam tables)
  • Ability to follow recipes and detailed instructions
  • Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently during high-volume periods
  • Demonstrates professionalism and adherence to I CARE standards
