Grinder Operator

Position Overview:

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced CNC Cylindrical Grinder Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC grinding equipment to produce high-precision components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinders (e.g., Kellenberger, Studer, Jones & Shipman, Hauser, Clausing, etc.).
• Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, travelers, and other technical specifications to complete machining operations.
• Perform complex machine setups, including fixturing, wheel selection, and dressing for both self and team members.
• Create and edit CNC programs directly at the machine.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, gauges, and equipment for each job.
• Troubleshoot and assist other operators with setup or production challenges.
• Ensure all parts meet strict quality standards through dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Support additional operations such as centerless grinding (in-feed and thru-feed) using equipment like Cincinnati and Royal Master.
• Assist with pinch-peel grinding (e.g., Rollomatic, ANCA) when required.
• Clean, pack, and handle finished parts.
• Perform other machining and assembly tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; technical school training preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a machine shop or CNC machining environment.
• Proven experience setting up CNC cylindrical grinders (e.g., Kellenberger, Studer).
• Experience with centerless grinding (Cincinnati, Royal Master) preferred.
• Exposure to pinch-peel grinding (Rollomatic, ANCA) is a plus.
• Experience with manual cylindrical grinders (e.g., Brown & Sharpe) is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints, operation sheets, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of quality standards and inspection processes.
• Ability to document work and interpret job-related instructions.
