Job Summary

Responsible for setting up and performing gross prosection on surgical specimens. The Grossing Technician works under direct supervision of Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants to perform surgical gross prosection to aid in diagnosis. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy are key components of this role.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution OR

  • Education/training including the following:

  • 60 semester hours from an accredited institution; to include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination AND

  • Laboratory training including either completion of a clinical laboratory training program accredited by NAACLS, OR at least three months of recorded training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.

  • At least 1 year in a clinical laboratory setting.

  • Effective communication of English language.
