• Position Title: Grounds Custodial Assistant

• FLSA Shift: Day / Evening

Job Description - Summary Grounds Custodial and Facilities Assistant supports the maintenance and cleanliness of a facilitys grounds, buildings, and common areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. This entry-level role involves performing routine cleaning, light maintenance, and grounds keeping tasks under supervision.

Eligibility Requirements

• Student Status: For Current SCC Students ONLY.
• Credit Hours: Students must be enrolled in AT LEAST 6 credit hours to qualify for FWS Program.
• Work Hours: This is a part-time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week depending on their unmet need on their FASFA.

This listing is intended for students that will attend Surry Community College during the 2026-2027 academic year and have need determined by the federal government. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, hallways, offices, and other areas.
• Perform basic landscaping such as mowing, trimming, and watering plants.
• Remove trash and recycling from designated areas.
• Conduct minor repairs to equipment or facilities as needed.
• Restock supplies in restrooms and common areas.
• Ensure walkways and outdoor areas are free of debris, ice, or hazards.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down spaces for events.
• Follow safety procedures and report any maintenance concerns.

General Qualifications

• Student must be punctual.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• No formal education or experience required; on-the-job training provided.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of Grounds Safety Guidelines and Procedures.
• Understanding of how to use grounds equipment such as tractors, pressure washer, etc.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Lift heavy objects.
• Walk long distances.
• Bending for long periods.
• Working in the elements.

Work Environment Facilities Department, YADKIN CAMPUS.

Pay $14.00/hr.
