POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals for full-time Grounds Equipment Operator positions. This position uses moderate level of grounds maintenance skills and operates and maintains equipment such as large tractors and riding mowers. This career opportunity is an 8-hours/day, 12-month position and includes paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and a comprehensive benefits package of health, dental, vision and life insurance. The expected working hours are to be from 6:00am - 2:30pm. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience: Two years experience in operating and maintaining large power equipment such as tractors, dump trucks, mowers, and skip loader, and related gardening and grounds maintenance is required. Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver s License Insurability to drive a District vehicle as part of the District s Pull Notice Program is required. This will require submitting a Driver s Record that can be obtained from the DMV (in person or online) and drug testing which will require a clinic order to be given after hiring. The driving record must be dated less than one month old from the recruitment closing date. Employment Standards Knowledge of: Operation, lubrication and maintenance of tractors and power equipment; methods, materials and tools used in grounds maintenance. Ability to: Operate large grounds maintenance equipment, tractors and trucks in a safe and efficient manner; perform heavy manual labor; operate equipment from a sitting position for long periods of time; perform grounds maintenance; follow oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others. RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran s credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be 12 (twelve) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examinations and Interviews The date(s) of the examination(s) and interviews will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s) or interviews.
