Job Overview PEMCCO is seeking a motivated and skilled Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, carpentry, painting, and construction-related tasks. In this role, you will help maintain buildings, facilities, structures, and equipment through repairs, renovations, painting projects, and preventative maintenance activities. You will work both independently and as part of a team while supporting a 24/7 operational environment that values safety, reliability, and craftsmanship. Construct, repair, and install cabinets, doors, floors, frameworks, trim, and other wooden fixtures Cut, fit, and assemble wood and other construction materials for maintenance and repair projects Operate woodworking equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, primers, and sealers to buildings, structures, and equipment Prepare surfaces by sanding, stripping, filling, patching, caulking, and masking as needed Mix and match paint colors and finishes to project specifications Remove damaged materials and perform repairs or replacements to maintain facility integrity Install fixtures, hardware, windows, frames, flooring, and related building components Erect and work from ladders and scaffolding when required Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets specifications and performance standards Calculate material requirements and support project planning efforts Read work orders and follow project instructions from supervisors Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety requirements Perform additional duties as assigned in support of facility and infrastructure maintenance operations
What You Bring Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, painting, demolition, carpentry, or related trades Valid Virginia Drivers License in good standing At least 18 years of age Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Willingness to work in a physically active environment and varying weather conditions
Preferred Experience
Experience in commercial, industrial, transportation, or infrastructure maintenance environments Experience with carpentry, painting, facility repairs, and general construction activities Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively Strong verbal and written communication skills
