District - Grounds/Maintenance

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs duties required for the routine care, protection, and preservation of the district's buildings and grounds. Maintains equipment in good working order. Ensures all athletic facilities are properly maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic knowledge of snow removal, grounds management, associated supplies, and equipment.

  2. High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

  3. Prior experience operating motor vehicles, fixing light machinery, and grounds keeping/ related fields

  4. Must pass criminal background check

DUTIES AND PERFORMATNCE EXPECITATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensure the safety of students and staff

  2. Performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks to repair and maintain buildings, grounds and equipment

  3. Follows plant safety requirements regarding occupant and vehicle safety

  4. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance for buildings and equipment

  5. Assists in providing custodial supply requests for buildings

  6. Promote good safety practices and procedures, maintain all safety and code requirements of the federal, state, and Board of Education guidelines

  7. Ensure the care, condition, appearance, repair, or replacement of all physical equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds in the district including but not limited to: mowing, tree and shrubbery trimming, weeding, feeding, aerating, planting, turf seeding, edging, mulching, debris and litter pickup, snow plowing and salting, emptying trash receptacles, playground equipment repair, cleaning facilities as necessary

  8. Clean, maintain, and perform normal operator maintenance to facility equipment, tools, and supplies

  9. Maintain maintenance records and inventory of work area, supplies, and equipment

  10. Verify schedules to find out if evening and/or special activities require preparation

  11. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work/storage area

  12. Report discipline problems, vandalism, or other related concerns to the appropriate authority as warranted and assist with any temporary repair work necessary

  13. Check, repair or replace traffic signs on school property

  14. Available for emergency repairs when requested.

  15. Follows plant safety requirements regarding asbestos management, pedestrian, occupant and vehicle safety.

  16. Assists in providing custodial supply requests for buildings.

  17. Willing to adjust schedule based on the needs of the district

  18. Perform general labor inside and outside facilities including operating power-driven equipment and assisting in the pickup, delivery and assembly of various equipment and supplies

a. Complete paperwork as necessary

  1. Complete checklists, when necessary, relating to the care of equipment

  2. Work cooperatively with all school employees

a. Work with Athletic Director in the care, upkeep, and lining of athletic fields

  1. Report repair work needs to the building administrator or supervisor

  2. Identify needs for materials, supplies, and equipment to maintain the grounds and playground equipment

  3. Ensure that all chemicals are labeled and secured in accordance with standards

  4. Outline and submit plans for upkeep/maintenance of all school property

  5. Drive necessary vehicles and grounds keeping equipment

  6. Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation

  7. Make contacts with the public in a positive manner with tact and diplomacy

  8. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

  9. Serve as a role model for students

  10. Carry out and enforce Board policies

  11. Attend in-services as required and any training approved by supervisor

  12. Carry communication device (cell telephone provided) all waking hours, 7 days a

  13. week in order to be on call at all times

  14. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or administration

  15. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance

  16. Custodial coverage and overtime could be required

  17. Maintains valid Ohio driver's license

  18. Willing to obtain a CDL and commercial spraying license

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Effective Date: ASAP

  2. Terms of Employment: One-year probationary contract.

  3. Hours of Work: 8 hours per day /260 day contract

  4. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license.

  5. Salary and Benefits: As approved in the current negotiated agreement as posted on the website
