QUALIFICATIONSA high school diploma or GED valid drivers license excellent driving record and must be able to pass a background check clear of criminal history are required.
Must possess knowledge of proper methods and safe use of maintenance equipment such as reel mowers front-end loaders mowers weed eaters etc.
Must possess knowledge of proper methods and safe use of fertilizers and herbicides.
Skills in small engine repair welding and construction trades preferred.
Must have the ability to use shovels and other related hand tools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain campus grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment at all times.
Operate small engine equipment and utility vehicles efficiently and safely, especially in confined spaces.
Maintain and mow all of the campus and landscaped flower beds.
Frequently operate mowers, string trimmers, edgers, and blowers to perform mowing, landscaping, leaf and debris removal, maintain landscaped beds, including mulching and weed control, and daily litter pickup.
Ensure that equipment is maintained and repaired. Report needed repairs promptly to the Grounds Supervisor.
Move furniture and set up classrooms when needed.
Responsible for setting, maintaining, and inspecting the sprinkler system.
Responsible for clearing ice and snow from campus roadways, parking areas, and sidewalks. This includes sanding and salting as needed, which could include early morning, evening, or weekend hours.
Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment.
Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Grounds Supervisor, Executive Director, Planning and Operations, or the Superintendent/CEO.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates primarily outdoors and is regularly exposed to weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and varying terrain.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position is very active and requires full range of mobility in upper and lower body, be able to reach overhead, be able to work in various positions including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks and be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday. Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.
WORK HOURS
Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM
Must be willing to accept flexible work hours or work an alternative schedule when necessary to respond to facility emergencies outside of normal work hours and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of students, staff, and district property.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
The Grounds Technician will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities to determine satisfactory compliance. These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
LOCATION
Main Campus, Stillwater, OK
The primary work location is the Main Campus in Stillwater, OK, with responsibility to support local learning sites and campuses within MTCs district as needed.
