The name of an applicant will remain on the Labor Service register for the job title which he or she is registered for a period of not more than 5 years from the date of registration, subject to a renewal of registration as provided in Section 28, Chapter 31 of the General Laws, and subject to compliance with other applicable provisions of the Civil Service law and rules.Responsible for the maintenance and repair of park fields. Work is performed under supervision of a higher grade in accordance with accepted trade practices with review through inspections during process and upon completion for conformance to established departmental standards. No supervision is exercised over others. Essential Functions Maintains parks by weeding, cutting grass, blowing leaves, removing snow, sanding sidewalks, and repairing recreation equipment. Maintains park equipment. Clears illegal dump sites. Sets up and closes events in parks. Maintains athletic fields. Ensures spray pools are clean and usable. Puts up and takes down Bright Nights. May operate motor equipment of from light to moderate tonnage. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment processes, and techniques of the work performed. Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in work performed. Some knowledge of the fundamentals of a variety of skilled trades. Ability to work from written and oral instructions, sketches, and drawings. Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials employed in the work performed. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred At least one year of varied experience in the work performed.
