Groundskeeper - Dona Ana (Facilities)

Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Groundskeeper to maintain the outdoor appearance and safety of a secure facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico . This hands-on role is ideal for candidates with experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, or outdoor maintenance. The Groundskeeper will perform daily tasks such as mowing, weed removal, watering trees and grass, trash pickup, landscaping support, and basic irrigation repairs. You'll regularly use landscaping equipment including weed eaters, blowers, chainsaws, mowers, sprayers, shovels, and other grounds maintenance tools. This is a full-time outdoor position that requires standing, walking, and working in varying weather conditions throughout the day. Candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a detention center environment that may involve interaction with inmates.

Pay $15.00-$16.00

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain facility grounds through mowing, trimming, edging, weed removal, watering, and general landscaping activities.

• Pick up litter and perform routine cleanup of outdoor areas, sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways.

• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment including mowers, weed eaters, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, sprayers, and hand tools.

• Plant, fertilize, rake, sweep, and support seasonal grounds maintenance activities.Repair and maintain irrigation and sprinkler systems as needed.

• Remove debris and assist with storm, weather, or seasonal cleanup projects.

• Operate trucks, tractors, or grounds maintenance equipment when required.

• Perform basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs on landscaping equipment and tools.

• Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and immediately report equipment issues or hazards.

• Maintain professional conduct while working in a secure detention center environment.

• Support additional grounds and facility upkeep duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to work outdoors for most of the shift in various weather conditions.
• Experience operating groundskeeping, landscaping, or lawn care equipment.
• Knowledge of tools such as weed eaters, blowers, chainsaws, sprayers, shovels, hoes, and commercial mowing equipment.
• Non-commercial driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet site security requirements.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to work a consistent Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
• Strong attendance, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred

• 1+ year of groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, horticulture, or outdoor maintenance experience.
• Experience repairing or maintaining irrigation/sprinkler systems.
• Experience operating tractors or other grounds maintenance equipment.
• Experience working in correctional, government, industrial, or high-security environments.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
