Job Title: Greenskeeper
Department: Golf Course Maintenance
Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent
Job Summary:
The Greenskeeper is responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the golf course, ensuring it remains in a playable and aesthetically pleasing condition. This includes, but is not limited to, mowing, trimming, raking, and maintaining all areas of the course, including greens, fairways, tees, and bunkers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mowing and Trimming: Operate and maintain various types of mowing equipment to maintain the desired height and appearance of greens, fairways, tees, and roughs.
- Bunker Maintenance: Rake and maintain bunkers to ensure they are free of debris and in a playable condition.
- Turf Care: Identify and address potential problems with turf health, including weeds, pests, and diseases, under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all golf course equipment in good working order, including mowers, tractors, and other tools.
- General Groundskeeping: Perform other general groundskeeping duties as assigned, such as trimming trees and shrubs, and cleaning up debris.
- Safety: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating equipment and performing tasks.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent and other staff members.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in golf course maintenance or groundskeeping is preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and golf course maintenance practices is beneficial.
- Skills: Ability to operate and maintain various types of golf course equipment, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
