The City of Kettering, Ohio is recruiting to fill Groundskeeper/Groundskeeper Specialist positions in the Parks Division, which is part of the City of Kettering's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. These positions assist in the daily operation and maintenance of the parks and other City facilities. These positions perform routine tasks with Parks Service under the general supervision of a Parks Manager and other assigned staff. Compensation: The pay range for a Groundskeeper/Groundskeeper Specialist position is $13.20/hr to $14.55/hr. Entry rate is contingent upon the candidate's related skills knowledge abilities and prior experience. If hired seasonally the position works 40 hours per week Monday through Friday for no more than 6 consecutive months. If hired in a year-round capacity the position works up to 28 hours per week Monday through Friday year-round.
Examples of Duties Assists in parks maintenance operation, including push mowing, weeding, litter clean-up, athletic field maintenance, tree trimming/removal and landscape maintenance, painting, restroom maintenance and minor equipment maintenance;
Operates one or more of the following: push mower, riding mower, pickup truck with/without trailer, dump truck, paint striper, tractor, line trimmer, hand sprayer and other small equipment;
Performs assigned jobs in a safe, efficient, responsible manner;
Regular and predictable attendance required. Reports for work on time and ready for work at assigned scheduled hours;
The Parks section operation includes a diversity of tasks and responsibilities. The aforementioned duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the total operation, but are not inclusive.
Typical Qualifications
Related education and/or training with groundskeeping experience highly desirable. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be 16 years old before starting work.
