Overview
The Groundskeeping Assistant provides seasonal support in maintaining campus grounds, gardens, and outdoor spaces. This role focuses on landscaping, cleanup, and support activities that help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment.
TITLE: Groundskeeping Assistant (Seasonal, Part-time)
CLASSIFICATION: Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist 1
SALARY: $21.06/hour
DIVISION: Campus Operations
REPORTS TO: Groundskeeping Lead
This position is not eligible for hybrid work location, per Everett Community College's Telework Policy
Duties & Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
?Pull weeds and remove invasive plants
?Rake leaves and clear debris from walkways and outdoor areas
?Assist with watering, planting, and mulching garden beds
?Support basic upkeep of outdoor common areas and landscaping features
?Sweep sidewalks and entryways
?Use manual tools such as rakes, hoes, shovels, and wheelbarrows
?Maintain a clean and safe work area
?Follow all safety instructions and guidelines, especially when working near campus traffic or facilities
General Duties
?Assist with general campus upkeep and projects that support daily operations of the College, including:
o Event setup and cleanup, including moving chairs, tables, and supplies
o Light cleaning tasks such as wiping surfaces, emptying trash, and restocking supplies
o Additional support provided to Facilities and Campus Operations as assigned.
Qualifications
?Must be at least 14 years old by the first day of employment
?Ability to perform physical work outdoors in various weather conditions
?Able to follow instructions, work independently, and complete tasks reliably
?Willingness to perform manual labor such as weeding, raking, lifting, and carrying materials
?Dependable attendance and punctuality
?Able to interact respectfully with staff, students, and visitors

?Part-time position, days/hours vary depending on availability and campus needs
?Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures.
?Represented by Washington Federation of State Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement.
?Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
