Position Summary: Responsible for providing medically necessary behavioral health services, primarily focusing on group counseling for patients and their families in relation to the unique behavioral, interpersonal, and family dynamics associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodivergent diagnoses. Communicates frequently with the clinical team, which may include ancillary service providers and the patient's identified treatment supports to provide effective care services. Ensures that all activities and documentations are performed timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable behavioral health regulations and standards.

Critical Tasks:

  • Conduct comprehensive intake and annual assessments with patients to determine need for services.
  • Primarily provide group counseling services to patients and families affected by autism spectrum disorder and other neurodivergent disorders.
  • In collaboration with patients, guardian, advocate, ancillary service provider and/or patient identified supports, complete individualized service plans based on the comprehensive assessment.
  • Provide services in the office, home, community and other facilities as needed.
  • Provide individual and family counseling services to families as needed.
  • Respond to crisis situations, providing immediate support and guidance to patients in distress.
  • Manage their caseload, which will be heavily weighted toward group participation, and use available resources to ensure positive treatment outcomes.
  • Run psychoeducation and therapeutic groups in accordance with best practices and evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Facilitate group discussions and activities that promote engagement and progress towards treatment goals.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic environment that is safe, supportive, and conducive to healing.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including progress notes, assessments and service plans in accordance with GRHC, state and federal requirements.
  • Educate patients about mental health and wellness and advocate for their needs within the healthcare system.
  • Coordinate care regularly with individual patient's identified clinical team and communicate as appropriate with patient referral sources.
  • Provides services as multiple sites as directed.
  • Stay current with evidence-based and best practices in counseling and complete all required training.
  • Adhere to GRHC adopted ethical and professional standards, maintaining confidentiality and building trust with patients.
  • Provide outreach, engagement and case management services to assigned caseload.
  • Meet regularly with their immediate supervisor for supervision.
  • Follow all state, federal and tribal laws as well as GRHC policies and procedures. Demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
  • Will have to work with general mental health issues but will specifically work with substance use, grief and loss, trauma and crisis situations.
  • Work with all GRHC staff and GRIC departments in a culturally responsive, respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Substance Use/Addictions or closely related field of study from an accredited university or college.
  • Current independent license from Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as either LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LIAC required; or moving towards independent licensure with respective associate license.
  • Prefer two years counseling and/or therapist mental health and/or substance use/addictions treatment experience.
  • Require one year or more working with individual with an autism spectrum disorder or other neurodivergent disorders.
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety Level Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Current and continuing CPR/FA and/or BLS training and certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
