Group Exercise Instructor (Strength, Cardio, MOSSA Programs) - Caldwell YMCA

Our Caldwell YMCA is seeking Group Exercise Instructors for Strength, Cardio and MOSSO Programs to join the team!

This position is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in group exercise classes.

The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time, it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families.

Facility amenities include:

• A large cardio and weight floor
• Full-court basketball gym
• Three fitness studios
• A state-of-the-art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river

Schedule: This is a part time position, 1-4 hours per week. Schedule requirements are early morning, mid-afternoon and evening/weekend possibilities.

Pay: $18.30-$22.88/per class rate.

Responsibilities:

• Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants that helps them meet the two Cause Measurement goals for adults.
• Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about the Y Cause and other Y program offerings.
• Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance.
• Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
• Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
• Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
• Provide excellent delivery of land group exercise instruction to all members.
• Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
• Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in the land group exercise class.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge in group exercise instruction preferred.
• Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Required Certifications:

• Base Certification required - Group Exercise National Certification or Foundations of Group Exercise at the Y.
• CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day completion period.
• First Aid. Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day completion period, for instructors teaching CrossFit.
