Pay: $19-$23/hr. Hours: 8a-10a, 2x a week
POSITION SUMMARY
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for instructing group classes in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. • Keeps accurate class attendance records. • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education required - High school diploma or GED preferred, one to three months related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to speak effectively and respond to questions in front of a class. Ability to solve practical problems in the exercise class setting. Ability to operate the technology required to set up and run a class. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people. Ability to arrive in sufficient time for all classes to begin on time and be responsible for ending class on time. Ability to be responsible for securing coverage for a class if unable to meet required schedule. Ability to communicate effectively across socio-economic levels of the community to lead, encourage and inspire effective participation in Group Exercise classes.

Nationally recognized group exercise certification required for hire. CPR/AED, Blood Borne Pathogens and First Aid training required after hire.
