As a Wellness Center Group Fitness Instructor, you'll inspire and motivate participants through engaging group fitness classes, wellness challenges, and community programming. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping others live healthier lives while creating an inclusive, energetic, and supportive fitness environment.
What You'll Do
- Design and instruct safe, engaging group fitness classes for participants of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels
- Develop wellness activities such as walking groups, hikes, fitness challenges, and other community wellness initiatives
- Utilize evidence-based exercise principles to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, endurance, and overall health
- Adapt workouts to accommodate individual participant needs and varying ability levels
- Maintain attendance records and evaluate program participation to continually improve class offerings
- Offer both in-person and virtual fitness programming to expand community access and engagement
- Assist with front desk operations, including member check-in, registration, scheduling, and phone support
- Help open and close the Wellness Center as assigned
- Maintain fitness equipment, supplies, and workout spaces to ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Assist Personal Trainers and Wellness Center Assistants with administrative tasks and fitness programming
- Collaborate with KANA Communications to promote classes and increase community participation
- Participate in Rehabilitation Services initiatives and department activities as assigned
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in fitness instruction, recreation, wellness, health promotion, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Group Fitness Instructor certification (ISSA, NSCA, NASM, AFAA, ACE, or equivalent), or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to safely demonstrate and instruct a variety of group fitness formats
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Functional Fitness, or a related field
- Experience teaching multiple group fitness formats
- Experience using virtual fitness platforms and online engagement tools
- Experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness abilities
