Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to performing general machinist duties, you will:
- Oversee production and employees in assigned area of the Machine Shop
- Ensure that production schedules are met and that all machines are running at maximum efficiency
- Monitor a team of machine operators and provide training and guidance as needed
- Ensure that all safety procedures are followed and that all machines are properly maintained and repaired as needed
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and tools used in the machine shop and order supplies as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure that deadlines are met
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process and implement corrective action as needed
- Maintain records of production and quality metrics and report regularly to management
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with management to implement changes
- Perform first piece inspection
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Several years of experience in machine operation and maintenance with experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members and management
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to machine operation
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficient in the use of tools and equipment commonly used in machine shops
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules
