About the Position
The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) seeks a Group Tour Coordinator to serve in the Museum Division. The Group Tour Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for schools, community organizations, and other visitors planning group visits to the Two Mississippi Museums. This position coordinates all aspects of the group experience, including scheduling visits, communicating logistical details such as travel assistance and school lunch arrangements, promoting educational opportunities and funding resources, and ensuring that each group receives exceptional customer service throughout the planning process. The Group Tour Coordinator builds meaningful relationships through careful planning, close attention to detail, and a strong commitment to hospitality. As a key member of the Two Mississippi Museums team, this position collaborates with museum staff to increase visitation and enhance the overall visitor experience.
What youll need to be Successful
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and a customer service mindset are essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, self-motivation, adaptability, and effective problem-solving skills while maintaining positive relationships through strong interpersonal communication. Success in this position also requires working knowledge of collecting and tracking data, preparing reports, and evaluating program outcomes. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams while exercising sound judgment and working independently when needed. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet assigned deadlines. Candidates should also demonstrate an understanding of, or genuine interest in, the important role museums play in public education, cultural preservation, and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
This position typically requires a Bachelors Degree and 4-7 years of experience. - Agency Preferred Qualifications: Experience coordinating programs, events, or customer service operations is highly desirable. Experience preparing correspondence, presentations, and other informational materials.
