The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment GSE.
Principal Accountabilities
• Advise and train lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair-maintenance problems • Inspect and approve completed maintenance actions • Solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and technical publications • Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions • Analyze diagnosis and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools
Maintaining External Fuel and Grounding Systems
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE. Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Service equipment with fuel oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air. Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses. Test equipment and technical publications.
Disassembly and Assembly of Malfunctioning GSE Accessories and Components
Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components. Remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, and assemble and reinstall GSE components and accessories. Stencil and mark GSE in accordance with technical publications.
Storage, Handling, Labeling, and Disposal of Hazardous Materials and Waste
Store, handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations. Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment and operate clean. Inspect and service GSE towing vehicles.
Maintaining Vehicle Records and Dispatch Service
Maintain vehicle records and update paper and electronic equipment records. Provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
Responsibilities
Responsible for good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety. May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.
Minimum Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note US Citizenship is required to obtain clearance.
