    FRASER PUBLIC SCHOOLS

    FRASER, MICHIGAN

    TITLE: Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Paraprofessional(s)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma/GED.

    • Must have one of the following:

    • a valid Center-Based Preschool CDA credential or

    • an Associate Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development or the equivalent.

    • An existing 120 Hour approval letter from MDE

    • Evidence of freedom from communicable tuberculosis within one year previous to employment.

    • Previous experience in childcare or preschool preferred but not required.

    • Meet any and all qualifications of the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential.

    REPORTS TO: Building Administrator or designee

    SUPERVISES: NA

    JOB GOAL: Assist in providing safe, nurturing, supportive care and stimulating educational activities for eligible children.

    ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain a clean, healthy environment in classroom and anywhere food is served.
    • Collaborate with teachers with planned lessons, activities, and projects.
    • Record anecdotal narratives with online observation tool (GOLD, COR, ect.).
    • Participate equally in planning activities; ensuring associate teachers do not play minor non-teaching roles.
    • Maintain classroom standards according to Classroom Coach or Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).
    • Conduct on-going assessment cycle by observing and assessing, reflecting, and planning, and implementing instruction through anecdotal evidence according to checkpoint dates.
    • Attend home visits, parent teacher conferences and parent meetings.
    • Attend building staff meetings and district professional development.
    • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
    • Available for after hour activities (Family Fun Nights, Open House, Meet the Staff, etc.).
    • Follow Macomb Intermediate School District, Great Start Readiness Program and Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential standards.
    • Perform "other" job-related duties as assigned by management.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Within the first 30 days of employment and every year after (as long as remaining in the position) employee must complete the following: Infant, Child, & Adult CPR, first aid, blood borne pathogen training, and 16 clock hours of training in child development, curriculum, child discipline, health/safety, nutrition, working with parents, licensing rules for child care centers, and/or other relevant educational topics.
    • Be of responsible character and suitable to meet the needs of children.

    EVALUATION: Participate in and accept annual performance reviews
