Overview
Serves as the first point of contact for prospective students, families, counselors, and other guests of the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Oversees the daily operation of the admissions reception area, ensuring visitors receive exceptional service while coordinating a high-volume schedule of tours, information sessions, and special events.
Coordinates key operational functions that support the office's visitor experience, which includes addressing student inquiries, writing professional correspondence to prospective students and campus partners, maintaining departmental scheduling, preparing presentation materials for daily information sessions, and assisting with the planning and execution of individual and group visits. Collaborates closely with admissions officers to ensure seamless daily operations and timely, accurate responses to online inquiries through the office's customer relationship management software. The position requires sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and flexibility to adapt in a public-facing position.
This position is an on-site role as the primary responsibility is to greet the public on campus.
Required Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Proven attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and records.
Demonstrated reliability in attendance and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in higher education, hospitality, or another customer-facing environment with a high volume of visitors.
Experience working with customer relationship management systems.
Familiarity with Yale University.
