The Guest Services Attendant (valet) will provide prompt, safe, efficient and friendly vehicle care and delivery for all Resort guests. The Guest Services Attendant is responsible for the transportation of guests luggage and assists with Bell Desk functions.

Responsibilities for this Position

• Responsible for parking and retrieving all guest cars in an efficient, safe and friendly manner.
• Provides warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Resort including use of guest name & good eye contact with each guest.
• Provides assistance in and out of vehicles of all guests.
• Maintains proper control of all guests keys.
• Ensures accurate documentation on all tickets to ensure accurate billing & good service to guests.
• Delivers automobiles to guests ready to drive, which will require snow removal during winter season.
• Follows direction and instruction offered by doorman.
• Clearly explains parking fees and luggage procedures.
• Provides useful information and assistance as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of the PC, and parking lot areas.
• Maintains traffic control ensuring fire lanes are kept clear.
• Gives directions to area sites.
• Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
• Opens doors for clients or personnel.
• Handles room deliveries.
• Handles luggage for clients.
• Performs special deliveries or errands.
• Adheres to the policies of the company as set forth in the Employee Handbook and reports any observed violations to Human Resources.
• Maintains the highest level of employee/guest relations.
• Performs other related reasonable duties capable of being performed as requested by Management.

Requirements

• Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
• Experience in the service industry preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Service orientation, communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to transport, handle and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (Note: Loading and unloading luggage out of vans, busses, etc., and delivery to and from guest rooms).
• Current drivers license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Must have ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
• Must be able to work while standing, walking, running and shoveling for extended periods
• Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
• Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Technical Requirements:

• Must be willing to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Requires strong organizational skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Excellent people skills.
• Must meet grooming standards.

By the mid-1990s, French Lick Spring Hotel, although still in operation, was a mere shell of its former glory and the abandoned West Baden Springs Hotel was literally crumbling to the ground. As with any great comeback story, it all started with people who refused to give up local volunteers and the folks at Indiana Landmarks. Seeing West Baden Springs Hotel in a state of ruin devastated the group, whose mission is saving such cherished properties. Soon the Cook family, devoted preservationists who themselves led the restoration of many Indiana buildings, joined the cause and committed more than $600 million dollars to not only save West Baden Springs Hotel but also French Lick Springs Hotel. The Cooks wanted their preservation work to result in living, breathing historic places that would be around for centuries to come. Today, 1.1 million guests visit French Lick Resort annually to experience this save of the century.
