Job DescriptionPosition: Guidance Counselor, Grades 9-12Location: Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School, Cambridge, MassachusettsStarting Date: Sep 1, 2026Cambridge Rindge & Latin School is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. The mission is to provide a quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive, and personalized teaching and learning. Working in partnership with families and the wider community, the school maintains a nurturing, respectful, and safe environment where educators and students hold themselves to high standards.Opportunity: The school seeks a Guidance Counselor to join an innovative and caring community. The candidate will have experience working with adolescents, preferably with teaching experience, and must understand and have experience with guidance and counseling activities. They will display a collegial spirit, support continual professional growth, and commit to learning, improving, and collaborating to ensure all students achieve at high levels.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with all team members, including guidance counselors, school psychologists, social workers, teachers, administrators, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.Work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community.Partner with families, include them in students' learning and development, and encourage families to support the school mission.Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.Facilitate transitions and counsel all students toward realizing their full educational potential.Establish a culture of high expectations, believing that every student will pursue a dignified next step.Develop, collect, analyze, and interpret data.Organize and integrate pre‑college guidance and counseling into the guidance program.Communicate regularly with students and families, involving families as partners in their child's education.Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to address them effectively.Facilitate i‑decide student training sessions.Any other related duties as assigned.Your Skill SetUnderstanding of and experience with guidance and counseling activities.Previous experience working with adolescents; teaching experience preferred.Experience working with a multicultural student population in an urban school setting.Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.Massachusetts DESE Certification: School Counselor required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with a diverse staff and student body.A strong work ethic and commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.Demonstrated exemplary counseling and communication skills.Demonstrated ethical behavior and professional conduct in fulfilling role and responsibilities.Employment TermsPosition Type: Full-TimeStatus: Open until filledEEO StatementAt the Cambridge Public Schools, we are committed to cultivating an environment where diverse perspectives and backgrounds are embraced.
