Job Title: Manual Test Analyst

Work Location: Lewis Center, Ohio (Remote)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manual Test Analyst / Quality Engineer with strong hands-on experience in functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a solid understanding of software testing practices, and the ability to translate business requirements into comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.

Insurance domain experience is preferred. Experience with test automation and Guidewire InsuranceNow is considered a plus but is not required.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance / Software Testing, with a strong focus on manual testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing of enterprise applications.
  • Experience analyzing business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories and translating them into detailed test scenarios and test cases.
  • Strong experience with test planning, test execution, defect identification, defect tracking, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Ability to perform exploratory testing and identify scenarios and edge cases beyond documented requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Hands-on experience with test and defect management tools such as JIRA or similar tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, developers, product owners, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance domain is preferred, including familiarity with areas such as policy administration, billing, claims, agents, and insured/customer workflows.
  • Knowledge of or hands-on testing experience with Guidewire InsuranceNow is a plus.
  • Experience testing insurance applications, policy administration systems, or similar enterprise insurance platforms.
  • Test automation experience is a plus, including exposure to tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Katalon, TestNG, or JUnit.
  • SQL and database knowledge, including the ability to write queries for backend data validation, is preferred.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools such as K6 or JMeter is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for test case creation, test optimization, or QA productivity is a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyze business and functional requirements to develop comprehensive manual test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, and end-to-end testing for application releases and enhancements.
  • Validate application functionality against documented business and technical requirements.
  • Identify, document, track, and retest defects, working closely with development and business teams through resolution.
  • Perform risk-based and exploratory testing to identify potential defects and edge cases that may not be covered by defined test cases.
  • Understand customer and user journeys, including insured and agent experiences, and validate that application functionality supports expected business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure adequate test coverage.
  • Participate in requirement reviews, story refinement, test planning, defect triage, and release-readiness discussions.
  • Clearly communicate testing status, defects, quality risks, dependencies, and release-readiness concerns to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform data validation and backend testing as needed, including database validation using SQL where applicable.
  • Maintain test cases and regression test suites to ensure they remain current as the application evolves.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives where appropriate; however, the primary focus of this role is hands-on manual testing and quality assurance.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve QA processes, test coverage, quality, and overall delivery efficiency.

Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual''s skills, experience, performance and internal equity.
