Job Summary:
The Guidewire SBT Architect leads the design, configuration, and deployment of Guidewire Smart Business Templates (SBTs) for commercial insurance products. This role ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, regulatory requirements, and business objectives, while enabling scalable, reusable, and high-quality product implementations across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of Guidewire SBT solutions aligned to enterprise architecture and business goals.
Configure and maintain Guidewire SBTs for commercial insurance products.
Define scalable and maintainable SBT architectures supporting rapid product rollout and jurisdictional flexibility.
Convert ISO and AAIS standards into configurable Guidewire solutions using Product Designer or APD.
Guide and mentor developers and configuration specialists, promoting Guidewire and SBT best practices.
Collaborate with product owners and actuarial teams to align templates with business needs.
Customize rating algorithms, forms, and rules based on state-specific regulatory requirements.
Monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely template adjustments.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and lead enablement and training sessions.
Troubleshoot and resolve SBT performance and integration issues.
Establish and enforce coding standards, review deliverables, and ensure high-quality implementations.
Identify opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and template reuse.
Participate in POCs, RFPs, and assist with task planning, estimation, and scheduling.
Support production deployments and post-release validation of rating changes.
Stay current on new technologies and provide recommendations as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
9+ years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role focused on SBT and commercial insurance
Strong proficiency in GOSU, Guidewire configuration, integrations, and PolicyCenter data model
Experience designing scalable, modular Guidewire solutions
Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and jurisdictional variations
Hands-on experience with Guidewire Studio and configuration best practices
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex initiatives
Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
Strong conceptual, analytical, and mathematical skills
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills:
Guidewire certification (PolicyCenter Configuration or Rating)
Experience with Guidewire Cloud or Digital Portals
Experience supporting multi-state product rollouts
Knowledge of P&C insurance products and regulatory compliance frameworks
Insurance certifications such as AINS or CPCU
