Job Description Performs intermediate skilled work teaching and coaching gymnastic skills and routines; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the Gymnastics Coordinator. Supervision is exercised over subordinates.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, peripheral vision, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
The hiring salary for this position is $20.21/hour to $27.79/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is $20.21/hour to $35.37/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Examples of Duties Instructs and coaches gymnastics skills and routines for level 5 - optional gymnasts.
Instructs skills and routines to all levels of United States of America Gymnastics (USAG);
Trains gymnasts in strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, endurance, and coordination;
Develops routines on all gymnastics apparatus;
Instructs all levels of recreational fee classes as needed;
Supervises assigned area of facility;
Interprets program curriculum orally and visually to students and parents;
Insures that safety precautions are observed in all activities;
Reports to Gymnastics Coordinator orally and in writing on activities, groups, individuals, plans or problems;
Carefully plans combinations and routines for USGA competitive levels;
Choreographs optional level routines;
Teaches correct spotting techniques;
Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of USAG rules and policies, compulsories and code of points and coaching techniques; general knowledge of child behavior; ability to teach all USAG levels and choreograph optional routines for bars, beam and floor.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by several years participatory experience in USAG, high school or college level gymnastics; considerable experience teaching and /or coaching gymnastics skills and techniques. Prefer supervisory experience.
Member of USAG; USAG Safety Certified; certified in CPR and First Aid. Valid Virginia drivers license required.
Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by several years participatory experience in USAG, high school or college level gymnastics; considerable experience teaching and /or coaching gymnastics skills and techniques. Prefer supervisory experience.
Member of USAG; USAG Safety Certified; certified in CPR and First Aid. Valid Virginia drivers license required.
