Our client is seeking a Hair Testing Technician to support laboratory-based hair fiber testing and sample preparation activities.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $21/hr
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Hair Testing Technician to support laboratory-based hair fiber testing and sample preparation activities. This role is ideal for individuals who possess excellent manual dexterity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform highly precise, repetitive tasks with consistency and accuracy. The technician will be responsible for preparing samples, operating specialized laboratory equipment, and supporting scientific teams by generating high-quality test samples and raw data.
Responsibilities of the Hair Testing Technician:- Prepare single-fiber hair samples for testing using specialized mounting and crimping techniques.
- Manipulate and handle extremely small materials requiring exceptional fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Ensure proper sample preparation, handling, and sealing procedures to prevent contamination and maintain equipment integrity.
- Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain specialized hair testing instrumentation.
- Prepare samples for Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) testing by accurately weighing hair fibers and measuring precise liquid volumes.
- Follow established laboratory procedures, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Record testing activities and maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
- Provide completed samples, raw data, and observations to scientific staff for analysis and reporting.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Experience/Skills for the Hair Testing Technician:- Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform highly detailed, repetitive tasks with precision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during routine laboratory work.
- Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs with a high degree of accuracy.
- Willingness to work with laboratory chemicals and materials while adhering to established safety procedures.
- Ability to learn and operate new laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Hair Testing Technician:- Experience performing precision-based work requiring strong hand coordination and attention to detail.
- Background in quality inspection, electronics assembly, sewing, crafts, microscopy, manufacturing, or other fine-detail technical work.
- Experience with laboratory sample preparation, instrument setup, testing support, or similar hands-on technical activities.
Education Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or additional coursework in a scientific or technical discipline preferred.
