Title Half (.5) Graduate Assistant - Children's Physical Developmental Clinic Position Description
The Half Graduate Assistant (.5 GA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer.
Overview
The Children's Physical Developmental Clinic (CPDC) is proposing for a half graduate assistant to aid in the program's success. A graduate assistant in CPDC has proven to contribute to the programs' overall success by bringing knowledge of their educational experience as well as long-standing experience in the CPDC program.
Duties
Oversee student clinicians, group leaders and children during CPDC's Saturday program ensuring safety and success for all participants.
Responsible for creating an activities curriculum (lesson plan) for all 16 Saturdays of program. Share each week's lesson plan with group leaders and clinicians to ensure successful execution of the activity, as well as maximum participation by children.
Assist in managing social media and analytics to increase followership and engagement
Professionally communicate (verbal and written) with faculty, staff and students on a regular and ongoing basis.
Hold "office" hours for students to meet:
Potential clinicians inquiring about the program.
Group leaders and current clinicians' consultation to evaluate confidential folders of their children and disabilities. Making recommendations for visual aids, AAC support, schedules and behavioral supports, as well as maintaining a resource binder of these support tools for student use throughout the semester.
Work closely the program director and program coordinator throughout the week to prepare for Saturday mornings.
Office responsibilities include knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Canva, Google Docs, Zoom, Teams. Also process confidential files, mailings, answering phone calls, and disseminating marketing publications.
Outreach work to classes and the community to promote CPDC to students and families who may be interested in joining the program.
Attending BSU interest fairs, orientations, tours to promote CPDC.
Develop posters and disseminating them throughout campus.
Speak in classrooms to educate students about the opportunity to join the program.
Attend community Parent Advisory Meetings to educate parents with disabilities about the CPDC program.
Enhancing vital physical, motor and aquatic skills and patterns
Improve children's self-esteem by strengthening emotional-social aspects of their personalities.
