Position Information

Title Half (.5) Graduate Assistant - College of Graduate Studies, Graduate Admissions Position Description

The Half Graduate Assistant (.5 GA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer.

Overview

A Graduate Assistant in the Office of Graduate Admission will play a key role in supporting marketing, recruitment, and enrollment efforts aimed at attracting and converting prospective applicants to graduate programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to marketing and recruitment initiatives that showcase the College of Graduate Studies' programs and connect with potential students, while also participating in the application recruitment/completion process and accepted student conversion process.

This work requires significant effort, professionalism, and conscientiousness, and provides valuable, career-advancing experience in marketing, communications, and enrollment management.

Responsibilities

These duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of marketing strategies designed to engage prospective graduate applicants.
  • Assist with recruitment and conversion activities, including phone call and email campaigns to applicants with incomplete applications and accepted students to support enrollment goals.
  • Aid in the planning and implementation of direct marketing campaigns, ensuring communication with prospective applicants is clear, timely, and effective.
  • Be available during scheduled shifts to provide information via phone or email to prospects, applicants, and accepted students, serving as an ambassador for the institution.
  • Assist in the collection and maintenance of prospective student data, ensuring marketing databases are accurate and up to date.
  • Provide support at recruitment events, both virtual and in-person, engaging with prospective students and promoting graduate programs.
  • Contribute to content creation for communication channels including email, social media, and print materials.
  • Conduct research and analysis related to prospective and current students to inform outreach strategies and office procedures.
  • Assist with projects that impact daily policies and procedures, including research to support updates and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members on new initiatives and continuously improve outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Complete projects and assignments as needed for the Admissions Office.
  • Serve as front desk backup support when needed.
  • Assist and volunteer at College of Graduate Studies events as requested.
  • Participate in the annual Student Arts & Research Symposium (STARS).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • Experience with or willingness to learn marketing, social media, and recruitment strategies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and comfort learning new systems
