Description

We seek applicants for part-time instructors to teach within the Colleges Heartland Academy for Learning Opportunities (HALO) program. The HALO Program provides a higher education experience for individuals between the ages of 18 and 28 with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and other learning challenges. Instructors provide HALO students with exposure to various social and academic enrichment opportunities and coursework, including life skills and independent living.

Instructors are needed for the Normal, IL, location during the upcoming Fall 2026 semester.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in special education, education, or related field OR bachelor's degree with completion of some graduate level coursework in special education, education, or other applicable areas
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and inclusively with HALO students while promoting students' independence

Desired Qualifications

  • Successful teaching or mentoring experience, especially with individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or other learning challenges

The anticipated compensation rate is $2,500 per class, per semester.
