Hands On IT Infrastructure Leader / Director

Our client, a small manufacturer in midtown NY is looking for an experienced hands-on IT Director to support the infrastructure, with the help of an MSP and lead the strategy, delivery, and ongoing evolution of their environment. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute IT strategy aligned with business goals and growth priorities
• Provide strategic direction while ensuring decisions are practical, scalable, and cost-effective
• Lead modernization initiatives including system upgrades, standardization and process improvement
• Serve as the primary technical authority within the organization and will partner closely with the managed service provider (MSP)
• Oversee IT operations including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and support services delivered through the MSP
• Evaluate and upgrade existing systems and tools to improve performance, reliability, and security
• Manage IT budget, vendor relationships, and technology partnerships
• Operate within a Microsoft-based environment, leveraging Microsoft technologies as the core of the enterprise ecosystem

Qualifications

• IT leadership experience in smaller (+/-100 person company)
• Strong ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
• Experience working across infrastructure, applications, and enterprise systems
• Strong experience in Microsoft environments
• Strong understanding of working with MSPs
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, system integration, and IT operations
