Do you enjoy practical work, solving problems and making a real difference to people's lives?

North Yorkshire Home Improvement Agency is seeking an enthusiastic and practical Handyperson to join our team.

This exciting role forms part of a countywide service, with your designated home base determined by your locality of residence. As such, regular travel throughout North Yorkshire is an essential requirement of the post to support customers, colleagues, and service delivery across multiple locations. Applicants must therefore be able and willing to travel across the county as required.

About the Role

Join North Yorkshire Home Improvement Agency and become part of a supportive team dedicated to helping older and vulnerable residents live safely, independently and comfortably in their own homes for longer. This rewarding role involves carrying out minor adaptations and practical works that have a real impact on people's daily lives, enabling people to remain independent, maintain their wellbeing and continue accessing their home safely and confidently.

From fitting grab rails and handrails to installing key safes, constructing access solutions and completing small adaptations, no two days are the same. Through the delivery of repairs, adaptations and practical support, you will play a vital role in helping residents across North Yorkshire maintain their independence and quality of life, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, solving problems and helping others.

Key Responsibilities

  •        Ensure all work is completed safely and to high standard in line with relevant legislation and procedures
  •        Support the delivery of non-complex adaptation works

You will be provided with a vehicle and will be responsible for performing daily checks and ensuring compliance with vehicle maintenance requirements.

What You Will Bring

  •        Practical experience of building maintenance, joinery, repairs or similar trade
  •        Good practical and problem-solving skills with experience of using hand and power tools
  •        A commitment to enhancing the independence and wellbeing of vulnerable residents through the delivery of high-quality services
  •        Excellent customer service and communication skills
  •        The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  •        Basic IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
  •        Full UK driving licence

A Trusted Assessor qualification or experience of delivering adaptations would be advantageous but is not essential.
