PGS Worldwide is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer 2 in Rolling Meadows, IL for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This full-time, onsite position will support the research, design, development, and testing of digital hardware products through the full product lifecycle, from system concepts and requirements through design, implementation, test verification, production, and field support. The role works within integrated product teams spanning Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline with at least 5 years of digital electronics design experience, or a Master’s degree in a similar discipline with 3 years of experience.
Digital circuit design experience, including simulation and schematic capture through test and integration.
Hands-on prototyping and debugging experience with complex digital subsystems involving FPGAs, embedded processors, and/or high-speed interfaces.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects with two or fewer team members.
Ability to translate system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, designs, and test specifications.
Familiarity with documentation revision control and review systems similar to DOORS, ClearCase, and ClearQuest.
U.S. citizenship.
Current active Secret clearance with additional customer-specified clearance prior to start.
Preferred Skills
Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least 10 years of digital electronics design experience.
Working experience with ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS.
Current Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
Team leadership, mentoring, communication, adaptability, creativity, collaboration, independent work, and problem-solving skills.
What You’ll Do
Research, design, develop, and test digital hardware products and electronic systems.
Perform digital component design and analysis, modeling and simulation, circuit-level design, and testing.
Support digital subsystem and circuit card designs using FPGA technologies.
Support high-speed interfaces, RF and Electro-Optical DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces.
Contribute throughout design, implementation, verification, production, and field support.
