Job Title: Hardware Electronics Engineer I

Job Description

The Hardware Electronics Engineer I designs and develops motor control power electronics throughout the full product development lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including customers, suppliers, and manufacturers, to translate innovative designs into reliable, manufacturable products. In this role, you provide technical guidance to support project schedules and product cost targets, and you use modern tools and methodologies to perform design conception, analysis, testing, and verification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop motor control power electronics from concept through production, with a strong focus on power conversion, power supplies, and motor drives.
  • Create analog and digital hardware designs with an emphasis on power supplies and motor control circuits rather than low-voltage logic or digital-only designs.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to translate design requirements into manufacturable hardware solutions.
  • Use PSPICE or similar circuit simulation tools to analyze and validate analog and digital circuit designs prior to prototyping.
  • Develop PCB schematics and layouts for power electronics hardware, ensuring robust design practices appropriate for motor control and power supply applications.
  • Perform circuit analysis, testing, and verification to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Support the full product development lifecycle, including design conception, prototyping, validation, design reviews, and transition to production.
  • Provide technical guidance and input to help maintain project schedules and manage product cost, balancing performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to project engineering activities in a product development environment, documenting design decisions, test results, and design changes.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to troubleshoot issues, implement design improvements, and support continuous product enhancement.

Essential Skills

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in analog and digital circuit design and power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience or strong academic experience in motor control and power electronics hardware design.
  • Proficiency in analog hardware design with emphasis on power supplies and motor control circuits.
  • Experience with PSPICE or similar circuit simulation software for analyzing analog and digital circuits.
  • Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB layout tools for power electronics designs.
  • Familiarity with Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design and Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuits.
  • Ability to perform circuit analysis, testing, and verification using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Experience or exposure to project engineering in a product development environment, supporting designs from concept to production.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PCB design skills focused on power electronics, without the need for advanced high-complexity digital board expertise.
  • Comfort working on power conversion, power supplies, and motor drives rather than low-voltage digital or logic gate-focused designs.
  • Interest in developing expertise in power electronics and motor control applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.

Work Environment

You will work in a collaborative product development environment focused on power electronics and motor control hardware. The role involves regular use of circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE, PCB schematic capture and layout software, and standard electronic lab equipment for testing and verification. You will interact frequently with other engineers, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are practical, reliable, and ready for production. The position centers on designing power conversion, power supplies, and motor drives, without emphasis on complex high-speed digital or aerospace-grade PCB designs.
