Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Systems Architect to support an innovative organization in the advanced hardware and AI infrastructure space for an onsite position (Monday-Friday) near San Jose, CA. The Senior Systems Hardware Engineer will play a critical senior role, providing system‑level direction and technical leadership across the ASIC bring‑up process, ensuring robust board architectures that enable effective silicon evaluation and validation.

Responsibilities of the Hardware Systems Architect include:

  • Lead the architecture and design of complex high-speed, high-power test and validation boards supporting custom ASIC bring-up and evaluation
  • Architect and design high-performance, power-efficient hardware solutions for next-generation AI data center infrastructure
  • Own the full hardware development lifecycle, including requirements definition, schematic capture, layout oversight, manufacturing support, and board bring-up
  • Lead schematic design and board development using Cadence (Concept/Allegro) and related toolchains
  • Collaborate closely with ASIC design teams to understand silicon internals, configure tests, and validate functionality of new chips
  • Partner with mechanical, firmware, software, and SI/PI teams to ensure successful system-level integration and product readiness

Qualifications for the Hardware Systems Architect include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with deep expertise in high-speed, high-power PCB design
  • Strong background in signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and thermal considerations for complex systems
  • Proven experience designing complex boards using Cadence Concept/Allegro or similar tools
  • Hands‑on board bring‑up, validation, and cross‑functional collaboration with mechanical engineering teams
  • Experience in telecom/networking, including Ethernet switching and ASIC‑adjacent system architectures

Compensation for the Hardware Systems Architect:

  • Base Salary: $210,000-$260,000 (USD)
