About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Harness Design Engineer Specialist to support the design and development of electrical harnesses for next-generation combat vehicles. This role will work closely with engineering and design teams to develop harness solutions that meet vehicle electrical, environmental, and integration requirements.
Responsibilities:
Design electrical wiring harnesses, including selection of connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, and related components.
Determine harness layouts through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses.
Design harnesses to meet environmental requirements including temperature, shock, vibration, submergence, and exposure to harsh chemicals.
Develop harness designs using Capital Harness System (CHS), also known as Mentor Graphics, including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.
Work with CAD designers to route harnesses using 3D CAD tools such as Pro-E/Creo and NX.
Support development of released drawings for harnesses, electrical installations, and wiring diagrams.
Work with systems engineers to define whole-vehicle, pin-level interconnects.
Collaborate with physical architects to define harness routing channels and space claims.
Balance cost, schedule, and technical priorities throughout the design process.
Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Entry-level candidates with less than 1 year of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong multitasking, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to use engineering development and test tools.
Ability to balance cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
Experience with Microsoft Visio is desirable.
Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS), including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology, is desirable.
Experience with Pro-E/Creo is desirable.
Experience with NX is desirable.
Previous experience working with ground combat vehicle systems is a plus.
Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and methodologies.
Occasional evening and weekend overtime may be required.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance if required.
Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
