Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical/Operating Room Tech to provide vital support in our state-of-the-art Harrison One Day Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will have extensive recent experience in an acute care facility of similar size and complexity, including trauma centers or teaching hospitals. This position emphasizes versatility across general and specialty surgical procedures, with a focus on orthopedic, general, ENT, vascular, GYN, and trauma cases. Your role will ensure smooth surgical operations, maintain strict sterile protocols, and assist surgeons efficiently to deliver optimal patient care.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years current OR experience within the last 4 years in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center or equivalent facility
- Hands-on scrub experience in general surgery and specialties such as ortho, neurosurgery, trauma, vascular, ENT, bariatric, GU, GYN
- Proficiency in sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform general OR skills effectively in an acute care setting
- Successful passing of pre-employment health clearance
- Valid certification preferred, but not mandatory
- No current or past suspensions or investigations of professional license or certification
Nice to Have Skills
- Additional certifications in surgical technology or specialty areas
- Experience working in educational or teaching hospital environments
- Familiarity with New York State regulations regarding First Assist roles (note: First Assist experience in NYS is not accepted)
- Willingness to travel for assignments if needed
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent preferred
- At least 3 years of recent operating room experience in a hospital of similar or larger size, particularly in trauma centers or teaching hospitals
- Experience in adult or pediatric surgery
Other Requirements
- Operating room scrub experience required
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt quickly
- Must not have had any professional license or certification suspensions or investigations
- Valid state licensure or certification strongly preferred but not mandatory
- Willingness to adhere to all safety and health protocols, including pre-employment health clearance
- Shift Length: 8 hours per day
- Start Date: 05/01/2026
- Hourly Pay Rate: $54.81
