We are seeking Hassaniya Arabic Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Hassaniya Arabic, spoken in Mauritania, Western Sahara, Mali, and Senegal, is a rare North/West African dialect of Arabic often needed for asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Hassaniya Arabic English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration and asylum contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Hassaniya Arabic and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, legal, community, or government preferred).
Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
Excellent communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
