Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Hawaii State‑licensed Residential or General Appraiser for the Department of Design and Construction, Land Division. The role focuses on independent appraisal assignments—single property at a time rather than mass valuation—and requires steady work hours and complex, unique valuations for residential and residential‑related properties.Key Responsibilities Appraise real property for City acquisition, disposal, rental, and leaseAnalyze complex valuation problems where comparable data may be limited or unusualResearch, verify, and maintain comparable sales and market dataWork with City departments, such as the Department of Parks and Recreation, on land valuationTrack real property value trends and advise City agenciesReview and critique appraisals prepared by other appraisersPrepare clear, well‑supported appraisal reportsExplain and defend value conclusions when appraisals are reviewed or challengedBenefits Excellent benefits including up to 21 vacation days, 21 sick leave days, holidays, comprehensive health coverage, retirement plan, career development, and more.Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicant must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States. Must be eligible for unrestricted employment under federal law.Education Requirements Equivalent to a graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in real estate, business or public administration, economics or a related field.
