Our team is hiring a HAZMAT Lead Warehouse Support Services for the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) in Williamsburg, VA
The Hazmat Lead provides senior-level oversight and technical leadership for hazardous material (HAZMAT) and hazardous waste (HAZWASTE) management operations in support of Expeditionary Medical Systems (EXMEDS). This position is responsible for leading hazardous material lifecycle activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of hazardous materials across warehouse operations. The Hazmat Lead serves as the primary subject-matter expert for hazardous materials programs and works closely with shelf-life, inventory, warehouse, and logistics personnel to support operational readiness while mitigating environmental and safety risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage hazardous material and hazardous waste lifecycle activities across warehouse operations
- Oversee identification, segregation, storage, processing, and disposition of hazardous materials
- Perform hazardous waste determinations, profiling, and coordination of disposal or turn-in actions
- Review and validate hazardous material records, transactions, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Support preparation and review of hazardous material shipping documentation, including dangerous goods declarations
- Monitor expiration, end-of-life, and recall notifications affecting hazardous material‑s
- Provide guidance and technical direction to hazmat staff supporting daily operations
- Coordinate hazmat activities with shelf life, inventory, receiving, and shipping teams
- Support inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews by maintaining accurate and auditable records
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with hazardous material handling requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in hazardous material management, including receiving, inventory management, warehousing, and operation of material handling equipment
- Demonstrated working knowledge of hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal requirements
Required Certifications & Licenses
- OSHA HAZWOPER certification (29 CFR 1910.120)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, including stand‑up and 4,000–6,000 lb forklifts
Security Requirements
Valid Driver’s License; All NMRLC contractor employees must be U.S. citizens and maintain a favorable federal suitability determination (typically NACI with SF‑85/SF‑85P) sufficient to obtain and retain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) for installation, system, and facility access. Continued eligibility is required throughout contract performance, and loss of CAC or suitability status may result in removal from the contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hazardous material operations in a U.S. Government or DoD warehouse environment
- Familiarity with hazardous waste determination, labeling, profiling, and disposal coordination
- Experience supporting inspection, audit, or compliance activities
- Prior lead or supervisory experience in hazmat operations
