Job Description and Performance Standards
Title: Imaging Diagnostic Technologist Outpatient - 4160
Department: Imaging
Reports To: Senior Imaging Diagnostic Technologist
Performs radiographic examination on patients of all age populations, contributing to the efficient operation of the department and promoting Hamilton Medical Center's philosophy, to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. Assists in the clinical training of radiologic technology students. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patients’ current status in relation to their age specific needs.
Education: Two year degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program deemed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure: ARRT(R) – Required to maintain continuing education credits as established by the ARRT and ASRT and facility. BLS Required.
Experience: Prior experience preferred, extensive on-the-job training.
Skills: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization. Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients’ needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served.
Worker is required to be on feet most of the day and work is moderately heavy. Extensive amounts of assisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting patients are required.
Worker must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
Worker must adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under specific supervision.
Worker will be performing in a radiation area.
Worker will be exposed to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
