Job Description:

SUMMARY

Organizes and administers all matters related to E-Sports and enforces all rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association E-Sports (NJCAAE), PlayVS, and Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) where applicable as a framework to instruct student athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy and technological training necessary to achieve individual and team success. Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains and supervises efficient game scheduling across multiple teams and NJCAAE divisions, ensuring health, safety, and growth of all players within a healthy gaming environment.

• Facilitates intercollegiate nightly games from E-Sports Center and leads clinics, practices, and tournaments.

• Ensures compliance with NJCAAE, PlayVS, OCCAC, and Tri-C rules and regulations

• Leads E-Sports program innovation and development, overseeing game streaming on Twitch, "watch parties", player eligibility and management, collaboration with internal stakeholders, player recruitment, and opponent scouting.

• Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players.

• Organizes and runs staff meetings, and attends meetings when called by the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.

• Manages the establishment and enforcement of team rules.

• Actively participates in Tri-C and NJCAAE Discord communities, overseeing team Discord to ensure Tri-C/Team rules are followed and online spaces remain healthy and productive.

• Provides emergency first aid and medical care in absence of the trainer.

• Provides and/or organizes team instruction on physical health and nutrition, mental health, and professionalism.

• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation

• May be responsible for transporting student athletes in College-rented vehicles within the scope of departmental functions. Must complete the Compliance and Risk Management process to become an authorized driver and be granted a waiver to transport students.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

• High School diploma or GED

• Minimum three years of experience coaching E-Sports and recruiting student athletes.

• Current or renewable Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.

• Current or renewable First Aid or Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Certification

• Commitment to student success.

• Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team.

• Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Possess basic knowledge of fundamental E-Sports coaching concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations.

• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills

• Possess strong technological skills with PC technology, gaming platforms, streaming software, and consoles.

• Possess basic-level skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

• Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of students and the community, and supports a healthy gaming environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

• Prior experience competitively playing E-Sports at the collegiate level or above.

• Prior experience with OBS Studio and Twitch Streaming.

• Prior experience leading program development and growth.

• The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.

• Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.

• Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

• Late afternoon practice; weekend games, and travel.

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $20.81/ hour.
