POSITION: Head Coach for Winter Cheerleading
Putnam High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Winter Cheerleading program as Head Coach. We are looking for a dedicated professional committed to fostering a positive and competitive athletic environment, developing student-athletes both on and off the mat, leading crowd spirit at basketball games, and building a highly competitive program for the winter competition season.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Leadership: Oversee all levels of the Winter Cheerleading program, fostering a positive, inclusive, and academically successful team culture.
Coaching & Instruction: Plan and conduct effective, safe practices focusing on skill development, proper stunting techniques, choreography, safety progressions, and physical conditioning.
Game & Competition Management: Direct game-day performances and crowd leadership for winter athletic events (e.g., varsity basketball games), and manage all aspects of independent, conference, and state cheerleading competitions.
Player Development: Mentor student-athletes, monitor academic progress, assist with college recruitment, and support holistic student growth.
Administrative Oversight: Manage uniforms, equipment, budget, travel coordination, and maintain accurate program records.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all school, district, and athletic association rules and regulations
Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear and professional communication with parents, school administration, and athletic staff; organize and lead fundraising efforts.
Fall Season Alignment: Consult and collaborate with the Fall Cheerleading Coach to ensure a seamless transition for athletes entering the competitive winter season.
Feeder Program Development: Build strong relationships with youth organizations to support long-term program growth.
Off-Season Training: Work with the Fall Cheerleading Head Coach to implement comprehensive off-season strength, conditioning, and skill development programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
RATE OF PAY: $2,567 for the 2026-2027 School Year (* season runs November March)
