Program Leadership & Culture

Create and sustain a positive, inclusive, and team-first culture aligned with department values of excellence, accountability, integrity, selflessness, leadership, and pride.

Model and enforce high standards of sportsmanship, conduct, and character development.

Promote unity and shared goals among student-athletes, coaches, families, and school personnel.

Invest in building strong, respectful relationships to foster trust, motivation, and performance.

 

Student-Athlete Development

Prioritize the growth and well-being of all student-athletes, emphasizing leadership, resilience, and continuous development.

Provide consistent, constructive feedback to enhance both athletic performance and character.

Encourage academic achievement and social-emotional development as integral to the athlete experience.

Inspire student-athletes to represent the school and community with pride and integrity.

 

Coaching & Instruction

Plan and lead practices that are safe, purposeful, and progressive in skill development.

Use best practices in instruction, motivation, and game strategy appropriate to the athletes developmental level.

Foster a learning environment that supports all participants in reaching their potential.

Collaborate with assistant coaches to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with program goals.

 

Program Management & Operations

Oversee all aspects of the athletic program, including scheduling, equipment, team communication, and eligibility.

Ensure compliance with WIAA rules, district policies, and ethical coaching standards.

Collaborate with the Athletic Director on budget, transportation, and facility use and other program information.

Maintain accurate records (e.g., attendance, injuries, forms) and ensure player safety.

 

Communication & Community Engagement

Serve as a liaison between athletes, families, school staff, and the broader community.

Communicate expectations clearly and consistently with all stakeholders.

Promote the program within the school and local community to build school spirit and engagement.

Encourage community service and school involvement by student-athletes.

 

Professional Growth

Participate in coaching clinics, district trainings, and professional learning communities when available.

Seek feedback and reflect on coaching practices to support continual improvement.

Mentor assistant coaches and contribute to a unified coaching staff across all sports.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience coaching wrestling

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a wrestling head coach
